Claire Millar Hair Loss

BBC journalist, Claire Millar, was using a very strong medication prescribed for acne and when she was approaching the final course of medication, her parents observed that she had a huge bald spot on the back of her head.

They at first believed it was alopecia, however, after deeper investigation, they found it was a complication of the tablets she had been taking. Back then, her hair was up to her shoulders and she had to cut it short to disguise the bald spot whenever possible.

She was given creams, sprays, shampoos and herbal tablets and nothing worked. As time goes by she got increasingly more depressed and began to feel less appealing to a level where she doesn’t want to go to work anymore.

The sides and back of her hair were not suffering hair loss at all so they grew as usual, while the hair located on the top of her head was similar to a baby’s fresh growing hair. Because she was so self-conscious, she started to pull her hair regularly because it was the only way that helps her to feel better.

She finally discovered that her condition is psychological, which falls under similar category as nail biting.

It has taken her almost four years to discover a solution.

She went to the clinic and spent 10 hours there having extensions fitted and achieved a shoulder length hair that she wanted.

She did not realize how stressed out she was about her hair loss until she had the hair extensions fitted. She gained her confidence back and feels a lot happier.

Baldness affects nearly 8 million women throughout the United Kingdom and can be a result of stress, illness, hormonal changes, medication and it is also genetic.
